CONFIGURATION CONSIDERATIONS
Standard vs High-Cut
Dependent on a lot of factors specific to your own situation, but in general, warm-season grass types tend to need the Standard's cutting height range, while cool-season grass types tend to need the High-Cut version. If you're cutting below about 1.25", consider the Standard, if you're cutting above an 1.25", consider the High-Cut. A cutting height chart can be found in the operators manual for reference.

Front Roller
The primary purpose of a front roller is to support the mower by maintaining a consistent height of cut - especially important on/over uneven ground, more forgiving than caster wheels as they are independent from each other and can more easily find divots, pits, etc.. Rollers can help reenforce the "stripe" effect after the initial mow, but the front roller's job is mechanical, not aesthetic.

Grooved Roller - Best for:
- wet or soft turf
- newly established lawns
- reducing slippage
- helping to maintain a consistent height of cut
- reducing the roller's contact area
- cool-season grasses (helps with tracking)

Smooth Roller - Best for:
- dry, firm turf
- well-established lawns
- slightly more pronounced stripes (secondary purpose, and dependent on grass
height)
- routine mowing on well-maintained, level areas
- ultra-low cutting heights
- warm-season grasses

Reel
The Crossover model can be outfitted with either a 7-blade for
the Standard version, or a 7- or 5-blade for the High-Cut version.

7-blade - Best for:
- lower mowing heights - typically under 1.5"
- fine-bladed grasses such as Bermuda, Zoysia, and bentgrass
- providing a finer, smoother cut (great for refined looks)
- reducing "waviness", and the need for a second cut when going lower
- regular mowing multiple times during the week

5-blade - Best for:
- taller mowing heights - typically 1.5" and up (High-Cut only)
- cool-season and denser grasses such as KBG, Fescue, Rye, and their blends.
- handling chunkier, wetter, or more overgrown grasses with greater ease
- minimal weekly mowing

General Info
The Crossover includes 1 battery, 1 charger, and all reel mowers include a catcher.

Order lead time / shipment preparation averages 3-4 business

The next generation of reel mowers. An electrifying take on a modern classic.
Living in Texas not too many folks cut their lawns like a golf course, but I wanted to. This machine is great for any lawn, it cuts perfectly every pass.

Gayle J. - Texas

I was very pleased with the quality of the cut compared to the golf course greens walk behind reel mowers I have used all of my career.

Ryan L. - Virgina

Great mower, couldn't be more happy, lifetime product, professional...

Doug R. - California

This product is perfect easy to use and great features, CUT TO PERFECTION!!!

Orell C. - Texas

I own two Mclane reel mowers and two California trimmer reel mowers. The California trimmers are of far better quality and performance. Plus the Trimmers are far easier to lap and adjust the blades when sharpening.

James T. - California

Bought this to take my Bermuda to the next level. Very easy to use and produces a beautiful cut. Couldn't be happier

Results Ordinary Rotary Mowers Simply Can't Match

  • CLEAN CUT: Reel mowers maintain a healthy lawn because they shear the grass with a clean, sharp cut like scissors instead of tearing off the ends of the grass blades like a rotary mower.
  • PRECISE CUT: Every California Trimmer mower comes with two height adjustment features that allow you to precisely lock-in your desired cutting height.
  • UNMATCHED CRAFTSMANSHIP: superior craftsmanship will ensure that your California Trimmer will still be manicuring beautiful lawns long after your old rotary mower has been retired.
